Who discovered Microrna?
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small regulatory RNAs (~22 nucleotides) that play important roles in gene regulation. miRNAs are generated by the processing of precursor RNAs by the enzyme Dicer. miRNAs are believed to regulate gene expression by binding to the 3’UTR of target mRNAs, leading to translational repression or degradation of the mRNA.
The discovery of miRNAs is credited to two groups of scientists, one led by Dr. David Bartel at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research and the other by Dr. Victor Ambros at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The initial discovery of miRNAs was published in the journal Cell in 2001.
The Bartel lab was the first to identify a miRNA (mir-181) in C. elegans and demonstrate its role in regulating gene expression. The Ambros lab was the first to identify a human miRNA (mir-let-7) and show that it regulates gene expression in human cells.
The discovery of miRNAs has led to the emergence of a new field of research called “miRNA biology”. miRNAs are now known to play important roles in many aspects of cellular biology, including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cancer. miRNAs are also being investigated as potential therapeutic targets for a variety of diseases.
Is Jessica Lunsford alive?
On February 24, 2005, nine-year-old Jessica Lunsford was abducted from her bedroom in Homosassa, Florida. Her body was subsequently found buried nearby three months later. Despite an intensive search and investigation, her kidnapper, John Couey, was not apprehended until nearly four weeks after her body was discovered. Couey ultimately pleaded guilty to kidnapping and raping Lunsford, and was sentenced to death.
Now, twelve years after Lunsford’s death, some are beginning to question whether she may still be alive. A man who recently moved to California claims to be the missing girl, now twenty-one years old. Jessica’s father, Mark Lunsford, is adamant that the man is not his daughter and has denounced him as a “fraud.” However, he admits that he has not seen his daughter in person since she was a small child and is not able to say for certain whether or not she is still alive.
While the possibility that Jessica Lunsford may still be alive cannot be ruled out, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that she is still alive. Her father and the authorities who investigated her case believe that she is deceased, and there is no reason to believe that they are wrong. Accordingly, this article will focus on the facts of Jessica’s case and the evidence that points to her death.
