A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck off the coast of northern Sumatra in Indonesia on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. The quake was felt in the capital Jakarta and other parts of the country.
The quake struck at a depth of 10.5 kilometers (6.5 miles) and was centered 227 kilometers (141 miles) northwest of the city of Medan, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
