There are more than 17,000 islands in Indonesia – the world’s largest archipelago. About 6,000 of these are inhabited.
The islands of Indonesia range in size from the tiny uninhabited island of Kepulauan Seribu (thousand islands) in the Jakarta Bay, to the huge island of Sumatra in western Indonesia.
