There are about 274 prisons in Indonesia as of March 2017, according to the Directorate-General of Corrections of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. This number is down from about 300 prisons in 2012. The prisons are managed by the Directorate-General of Corrections and the Directorate-General of Prisons.
