The Indonesian rupiah is the currency used in Indonesia. It is subdivided into 100 sen, although coins in circulation are valued in denominations of 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1,000 rupiah. The rupiah has been in use since 1945, and was initially pegged to the British pound sterling. It was later pegged to the United States dollar, and is currently allowed to float within a certain range. The currency is managed and regulated by the Bank of Indonesia.
