Bali Hai is located in the south Pacific Ocean, in the area known as French Polynesia. It is a small, uninhabited island that is part of the Society Islands. Bali Hai is located about 8 miles from the larger island of Tahiti. The island is volcanic in origin and is very rugged, with little vegetation. There is a small lagoon on the east side of the island, but no permanent inhabitants.
