Multinational companies are present in Indonesia in various sectors, including oil and gas, telecommunications, banking and retail. The Indonesian government has been encouraging more foreign investment, and the country’s large population and improving economic prospects are attractive to multinationals.
There are around 100 multinational companies in Indonesia, according to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. They include Indonesia’s largest companies, such as PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia, PT Garuda Indonesia and PT Aneka Tambang.
