Krakatoa is an active stratovolcano located in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. It is about 50 km west of the island of Bali and about 110 km east of the island of Lombok. Krakatoa is often cited as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because it is in a very densely populated area and has a history of large, destructive eruptions.
